If I was 100% concerned about them being fake, I'd avoid places like amazon and ebay (amazon may be more trustworthy if you buy directly from the company page) and purchase directly from a skating shop that has an account (with Bones for example) an…

Check out facebook skate sale groups. Like Artistic skaters, used stuff for sale. Snyders are pretty much worthless nowadays, maybe like $50.

Yep motor oil is also used in bearings for some people. It appears to me that after trying a lot of different methods it does not really matter what is used to clean as long as there isn't residue left and doesn't matter what is used to lube as long…
-
I've used bike chain oil on my bearings, seems to work alright but I only used it to get rid of the oil haha. So I've tried to help in previous threads but this time I asked my art skating coach what he has used for 40 years to clean and lube bearin…

The thing you are doing wrong is simply skating outside
-
There are both toe plug spins and two wheel spins. Jam skaters here tend to spin on the toe plugs or somehow otherwise on two wheels (toe or heel) because they usually cannot do edge spins.
-
Yeah the Giotto is the same design as the Mistral/Energy, but NTS. You probably had one of those instead of the giotto. The Raffaellos also have no toe stop, but got discontinued and were a cheaper version of the giotto. You probably just trimmed of…
-
Haha you got the Roll-Line Giotto plate confused with the Roll-Line giotto wheels. The Giotto plate is already NTS and designed as a plate for long figures, the wheels are a completely different thing that shares the same name, available in 60 and 6…

Idk the giottos have always been my favorite for art skating. Many different hardnesses for figures and freestyle
-
Skates not mounted by someone who knows what they are doing tend to have some issues, but how hard are your cushions? Did you adjust the action at all? And does the boot have a large difference in stiffness or different arch/heel size?
-
What plates? Probably medium and loosened to what is comfortable with the CORRECT pivot pin adjustment.
-
Art skater here, idk the history at all. I know we use them to protect boots from scuffing, match the color to our competition outfit or match your partner, hide boot scuffing, or in cases when a male skater has a white skate or female has a black s…

For foot pain, I would recommend loosening the trucks a bit if they are tight. Otherwise it's a normal part of skating, it really is a foot workout when you are just getting started.
-
They look large compared to what some people use when they make custom skates, but if they are not hanging off of the boot they are fine.
-
By decide to fail, I mean a circumstance where you cannot prevent the failure. Like if you had a bad bearing (manufacturer issue), or got unlucky and some unforeseen thing caused the failure. Just go and use gasoline to clean them, shouldn't ruin th…

Yeah I also shared your worry in terms of the plastic parts getting damaged by harsh chemicals. I actually just got a cheap ultrasonic jewelry cleaner that works on bearings with just water and dish soap. I just use a hairdryer afterwards, and after…

Take bearings out of wheels using a bearing press or screwdriver/whatever you need to use. Pull off the shields (can use a safety pin or something), then put them in acetone/99% isopropyl alcohol/something to degrease and get the gunk out without ru…

It's really hit or miss, never tried or heard of those ceramics you ordered but might as well try them. I would really avoid looking for a particular set of bearings though, like I previously said you just need to make sure you are maintaining them …
-
Don't get ceramics if you are worried about breakdowns, they tend to break often. They would be nice for outdoor speed use in different conditions because they don't really rust though. I would recommend maintaining whatever bearings you choose to u…

Go to Holiday skate center or Moonlight and they can get you some nice skates. Not entirely sure about inlines but find a place with a speed team and they'll take care of you.
-
You can just try to spin the wheels and see if it's actually the bearings that have been locked up. Also check the bottom of the plate and just make sure nothing is coming off. I usually use komplex or roll line bearings, and have used bones in my f…

Yeah it happens all the time, if you're ever curious about names for artistic stuff check the USARS integrated figure dictionary/technical manual. A good trick to help the correct lean is let's say you're trying to go right but your body is leaning …
-
Probably your body not leaning to the side, over the edge enough. It tends to happen when for example, someone is trying a right outer forward edge, but their body leans to the left instead, it's called double leaning.
-
Those are definitely junk skates, a plastic plate and cheap boot. But pretty good for what they used to cost. They probably feel wobbly because of the cushions. They may either need to be replaced (I think so after 20 years) and/or have the action t…

I don't know anything about them, but by looking at them I'd say worthless for skating. They almost look like kid's skates, love the toe stops! Possibly might have more value as a show piece or like for a collector. I'm interested to see if anyone k…
-
You can use them a bit past the cut outs, but I'd lower them a bit more so your jump timing stays consistent. However I'd get new toe stops soon so you don't get to the metal.
-
Thank you! And that's exactly what I'm worried about, even the NOS parts are still old stock. Not sure how much the quality degrades over time.
-
No problem! Yep it's really important to be able to hold whatever position you are going to be turning into first, before adding the turn which makes it more difficult. I would recommend working on your balance and strength going backwards, trying …
-
Also, if you're in Australia I highly recommend contacting @maiafitness.coaching (instagram), I've done online training with her, and she has very good artistic coaching knowledge especially for figures and freestyle.

The turn is not initiated with the upper body, it should be done with foot pressure and knee bend, the upper body part is only so that you don't block yourself while doing the turn. Using the upper body causes twisting and will not allow you to turn…
