  • If you like to go fast then 100's are the way to go, and are the choice of most fitness skaters. 70's are slower but more maneuverable so if you skate on really crowded trails or if you like to get fancy when you skate, they might be your best bet. …
  • Bont sizes run quite a bit smaller than normal. Probably best to call the dealer or Bont and talk to someone about it. Also make sure you understand their return policy if they still don't fit.

  • Thank you for all you've done, and all the best for whatever you choose to do in the next chapter of your life!
  • It will be a new race so nobody has skated in it before. From what I can tell it's a 4.1 mile course around a lake. https://floridainlineskatingmarathon.com/ Good luck in the race!
  • The Minnesota Half has gone virtual. The reason cited is covid-19 and their government's guidelines on large gatherings. There is no mention as to whether their riots had anything to do with their decision. For $61.00 you can skate your virtual ra…
  • When I first started skating I had the same problem but gradually over time, it became a non-issue. Whatever muscles skating fatigues, skating strengthens. However, muscles weaken during long layoffs so core exercises will help. The one I think h…

  • That's sad, but no surprise since there are some running races in the area that were scheduled for July that are already being cancelled. Oh well, 10 weeks, 6 days, 18 hours, 13 minutes and 45 seconds until the Minnesota Half. Hopefully the power…
  • I got this in my e-mail yesterday: info <info@allcommunityevents.com> Mon, Apr 6, 2:08 PM (19 hours ago) Hi Jim,  Thanks for reaching out to us as we know you have skated the event for many years. At this venue there are 11 entities we have t…
  • Yeah, it seems they're so dead set against holding this race that they wouldn't do it even if we all pledged to spend our entire stimulus checks while we're there. In stark contrast, All Community Events {ACE} which manages Chicagoland, has a runni…
  • I found this curious statement on the Ashland Chamber of Commerce website concerning the race.... " It’s around 375 skaters with about 60% from the Midwest, but there is another 40% that are from other areas in the country. We felt it may be to…
  • Both will probably happen. The current speculation in Illinois is that we will be over the hump by the end of April, have a continuous downward trend in new cases, most cases will be identified and isolated, and Pritzker will lift his "stay at …
  • They pulled the plug on the Salt Lake City 10K, no surprise since it had an April date. https://saltlakecitymarathon.com/race-info-maps/covid-19-2/
  • Yes, they have a running half marathon on Saturday and the skate races on Sunday. That part hasn't changed. It's an Amita Health System event that is managed by All Community Events whose president is Peter Starykowicz who I'm sure you recognize as…
  • If you skated where I skate you would see an adult. I'll be turning 75 next month and have no intention of ever quitting. You're right, skating is more fun and beneficial than cycling or running. I have found that skating is second only to XC skiin…
