- I'm a quad skater, previously a long boarder, that is obsessed with skating. I am a certified instructor, help organize a skate night, and skated just over 375 miles last summer. I am the admin for the largest skate group on Facebook for beginners (Beginner roller skating and inline) (She, Her)

I’ve always steered beginner skaters to use craigslist and Facebook marketplace to find used skates I’d they can. That being said, Chaya is one of rhe best brands for inexpensive skates. If price isn’t an issue, Bont Parkstars are great skates.

It appears to me that the skate has been stored somewhere that heat and/or humidity fluctuate, and the leather has dried out and contracted, pulling the sole up. Try coating the leather with a good conditioner and let it all soak in. After it has…

Have you considered shaping the backside of the wheels? To fit some longboard wheels on one of my setups, I simply grinded the backside of the wheel. Of course, this will make the wheels narrower. You also need a bench grinder. How: Slide the wheel …

Are your partner's roller skates Moxi skates? They tend to use a smaller plate, which makes it easier to rock up on your toes, which is good for the rink and tricks, but with the shorter wheel base you're actually less stable, and slower. I am a…

Hey there, I'm a street skater as well, have been for the last 7 years. Been building skate setups for the past 4 years. My favorite setups for street skating are my Nike Zoom boots (that were Ice skates in their first incarnation) with Avanti …

I just use a hill that is nearby, with a gate at the top. I back up to the gate, let go, and mark how far I roll, and take the middle mark of three passes.

I think this guy might be a good resource for you: Ricardo Lino on Youtube.

I DDDfind at least 65mm tall and 78a to be the best wheel for outdoors with the least amount of 'hang-up' s happening. I won't skate outside in less than a 62mm wheel. I like my front teeth too much.

I never understood every body wanting to dance the same way as everyone else.

I'm a rear brake master. There is a California Skate Brake which I use only if my trucks aren't similar enough to use a sketcher back brake which was made as part of the right rear truck, or a suregrip bolt on that works for most Sure Grip trucks. …

Also, could there be a "street skating' category ?

Hello and thank you for creating this skate space! Very clean and focused on the "debate" rather than outside advertisers. I have a couple of requests-- a 'comment' link at the top of the thread to the bottom of the page, and a bigger…

Also bought these Jackson boots, they were brand new, never used Competitor II's. Started making these into my Rink skates (I'm mostly a street skater) and got so carried away with the design that I didn't try them on until halfway through the pain…

Hey there! I buy all kinds of stuff, some junk, and some like these Cooper Leather hockey skates that I am thinking of turning into quads. From what I've heard, Cooper was a hot item in the 90's, but didn't last long at making equipment. These bo…
