Filling holes

Hi there,

I have some nice boots that have had two sets of different plates. They are custom Riedell Suede boots, with a leather heal.

I have not liked the last two plates. I'm going to jump to plates I know. The holes will not line up. How do I fill the holes so I can remount. These are 900 plus dollar boots. That don't have but a few hours in them. I don't want to throw them out.

Thank you.

  • One can epoxy the holes up with JB Weld or Water Weld. Then go for the gusto. Or. learn how to do a tee nut mount. This method will allow a builder to cover a multitude of sins.

  • Hi Doc!

sorry to jump on this thread, but was looking for advice what to use to fill whole when remounting and found your advice, thank you!

However, what do you mean to “go for the gusto” once the holes are filled?

Thanks a lot for the clarification!

  • The 2 epoxies I recommend are listed above. JB Weld of JB Waterweld. Go for the gusto meant "drill away". BTW if the boots are Riedell's they do resole them. Not cheap but well worth the price to save an expensive pair of boots.
